Hybridized by Tom Rood and registered late fall 2004.
Description:
Large flowered bold yellow with a maroon eyezone and yellow
to green throat. Heavy substance. Mid-late bloom season. Semi-evergreen
tetraploid with blooms extended into evening. Makes a
stunning center piece to a perennial garden setting.
Named
for a very dear friend Dr. Eugene McCarthy who was loved by
all who had the pleasure to know him. Entered into the
AHS Region 4's hybridizer's seedling competition in Ontario
Canada in 2004 but DOC McCARTHY MEMORIAL's season of bloom was later than then
the judging period. Later blooming daylilies are in
demand to carry the season of blooming daylilies into August
and beyond in upstate NY.
