WARRIOR'S BROTHER

4.5" Width of Flower, 32" Height of Scape, Hynridized by Bob Schwarz, Introduced by Tom Rood 2002

Description: Discovered growing in Bob and Mimi Schwarz's Long Island garden, this wonderful deep dark burgundy red daylily caught my eye. Bred in hopes of blooming as an unusual form, it isn't of course, I thought this daylily should be given a chance. Bob refused to sell the seedling but gave it as a gift. We brought it home to the finger lakes. The bloom has a small white edge and a contrasting green throat. It is a very dormant tetraploid fertile both way. The bloom holds up well during hot summer afternoons if given enough water. It's a mid-season bloomer over a long period. It increases rapidly bearing four-way branching with an average of 22 buds per scape. This is one of Tom's favorite dark reds. Named for its parents (Rainbow Warrior X Smith Brothers). Double fan $12.
